Lanneke Jones is a professional singer, actor, choir director and teacher, with extensive experience in a cappella repertoire, classical and early genres, R&B and jazz. Lanneke is currently a Director of MusicNow, creating music education videos, resources, and compositions for 3-8 year olds.
Lanneke made her Sydney Opera House debut at the age of five. A member of Opera Australia’s Chorus and then as principal, she sang the role of Flora in Benjamin Britten’s Turn of the Screw for four years, touring Australia under the direction of Neil Armfield. She studied acting with Marian Street Theatre and ATYP. Lanneke then graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education, Music Performance Honours.
Lanneke joined the prestigious Song Company as Principal Artist (Mezzo-Soprano) in 2009, touring across Australia and internationally. She has been a freelance vocal contractor with companies such as Bach Akademie Australia, Cantabile Music, Cantillation, the Sydney Philharmonia Choir and Motet. Her diverse performing career includes solo work with The National Chamber Opera of Australia, The Taverner and UNSW Burgundian Consorts and Cafe Of The Gate Of Salvation, and she has acted for The Living Room Theatre, Immersive Ventures, and at many corporate events. She has sung on many soundtracks and advertisements, and recordings for Bach Akademie, National Baroque and The Song Company.
In 2021, she joined the wonderful teaching staff at SCEGGS Darlinghurst, and was previously Music Festival Director, Choir Director and Senior Music teacher at Loreto Kirribilli for nine years. Lanneke has been Repetiteur for Musical Theatre productions at St Ignatius College, Riverview and Loreto Kirribilli: Footloose, West Side Story, As You Like It, The Wiz. She has been a conductor of The Sydney Children’s Choir, Gondwana Voices and director of community a cappella choirs for over 20 years.
