Emily Irvine is a choral conductor, music educator and performer. She is passionate about the value of choral music and believes in the power of choir to connect us. 

In 2014 she co-founded Inner West Voices, a community choir in Sydney, which has since performed with some of Australia’s great music artists. Emily's work with choirs includes conducting the chorus for Paul Mac's The Rise and Fall of Saint George (Hamer Hall, Melbourne, 2020, Sydney Festival, 2021) and Mullumbimby's Midnight Choir with Mama Kin Spender at the 2022 Blues Fest. She conducted the choir for Dr G Yunupingu’s The Gospel Album tour (Enmore Theatre, 2015) and Dr G Yunupingu’s ABC Ultimo live recording of the same album. She also conducted the 80-piece choir for Mama Kin Spender’s ‘Live at the ABC’ at Eugene Goossens Hall in Sydney (2018). 

Emily completed her studies at UNSW (B Mus/B Ed) and later undertook choral conducting workshops with MarĂ­a Guinand and the late Richard Gill. She has worked as a high school music teacher, conducting string ensembles, choirs and student orchestras for over a decade. Emily's work with young musicians has included conducting with The Arts Unit (NSW Department of Education) State Choir in 2016 and the musical preparation of the Children's Chorus for the Sydney Chamber Opera’s production of Benjamin Britten's 'Owen Wingrave' (Carriageworks, 2013).

Emily also arranges music for choirs as well as performing and composing in the fields of theatre and television.
