MEMBERSHIP & FEES
The membership fee is $220 per term, and choir operates during Public School Terms, plus any performances. When you join for the first time, there is a one-off registration fee of $40. This amount covers our administration costs and includes a beautiful handmade performance flower brooch.
You will be emailed an invoice, and fees are due in advance of the upcoming term. Fees are payable via bank transfer only. To ensure your place is held for you for subsequent terms you are required to pay your terms fees by the due date which will usually be the Monday of the last week of term.
Discounted rates for partial attendance at choir are not offered, except in extenuating circumstances. We expect that people will have varying choir attendance during a term due to prior work or travel commitments or sickness.
TRIAL VISITS & REFUND POLICY
We’d love for everyone to come and try a rehearsal, but due to high demand, we do not offer casual trial sessions. You may attend once you’ve been offered a place in your preferred choir and your fees have been paid to secure your membership. If after your first rehearsal you feel it’s not the right fit, we’re happy to refund your term fees minus $22 to cover your first session, provided you let us know before the second rehearsal.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
Our choirs often have large waiting lists with many people eager to join and start their singing journey with Hummingsong. We understand that sometimes members, for whatever reason, have to take Leave of Absence. We can hold your place in the choir by issuing a $100 holding deposit invoice. Once paid, this is a sign of commitment from you that you will return. Otherwise, your choir place could be offered to someone else.
If you return the following term, as planned, the $100 will go towards your next terms fees. If you are unable to return, the deposit is non-refundable. The holding deposit is for a maximum of one term only.
Whilst on Leave of Absence, choir members will continue to have access to the website, app, song library and conductor newsletters.
SINGING REQUIREMENT
Hummingsong Choirs are non-auditioned but there is an expectation that you can pitch match i.e. sing in tune! On your first night your conductor will listen to you sing a few notes or a simple song like “Happy Birthday”. This process is simply to determine which section of the choir to which your voice is best suited. Relax! It’s easy-peasy and nothing to fear.
ATTENDANCE AND PERFORMANCES
Hummingsong is a performance focused choir community where regular attendance, practising in your own time, and singing from memory at performances are all part of the journey. We love that our members embrace the many performance opportunities on offer and ask that everyone responds to communications and RSVPs in a timely way. If performing doesn't feel like your thing, Hummingsong may not be the right fit for you.
