Choosing a choir that feels like home is important.
While many women find their happy place in Hummingsong, we also know we’re not for everyone and that’s completely okay.
We’d love to give you a genuine feel for who we are, how we work, and what you can expect.

❤️ Our Welcome
Nothing beats a Hummingsong welcome.
From the moment you walk through the door, you’ll be greeted with warmth.
We pride ourselves on the genuine care we extend to every woman who joins us.
We understand that walking into a room where it seems like everyone already knows each other can feel intimidating.
Relax!
Almost everyone arrives with a few nerves on their first night and almost everyone
leaves wondering why they worried in advance.
Kindness is a core value across all our choirs. Stay for a chat before or after rehearsal. Join in at tea break.
Be brave enough to say hello. You’ll meet some incredible women.

Hummingsong is a non-auditioned community choir focused on building strong connections
through joyful, high-quality performances.
We are about:

We work towards performance opportunities throughout the year, and performing together is part of our shared journey.
It’s completely normal to feel nervous and we support each other every step of the way.
However, if you know performing isn’t something you wish to participate in, Hummingsong may not be the right environment for you and that's totally okay.
We encourage you to check out our YouTube channel to see the range of our performances and the variety of styles we explore.
This is a great way to get a sense of our group and see if Hummingsong is the right fit for you.
Choir is a team effort. When we commit to each other, something magical happens.
🎵 Singing & Voice Placement
We are non-auditioned, however members do need to be able to pitch match (sing in tune).
On your first rehearsal, your conductor will gently listen to you sing a few simple notes or something familiar like
“Happy Birthday” to help place you in the section that best suits your voice.
It’s informal, supportive and nothing to fear.
📚 Learning the Music & Supporting You
You do not need to read music to sing with us. We provide everything you need to feel confident, supported, and connected.
From the moment you receive an offer of a place, our friendly Office Team will guide you through everything you need to know, and our systems are designed to help you every step of the way.
As a member, you’ll enjoy:
• MP3 learning tracks via our website and Harmonysite APP
• Sheet music PDFs to download or print
• Guided rehearsal support
• Conductor updates, newsletters, and helpful guidance
• Access to the members-only website area
Our APP (Harmonysite) becomes your go-to practice tool. You can create playlists, listen, and practise anytime, anywhere. Even small, regular practice between rehearsals makes a powerful difference.
All performances are sung from memory. Over the term, you will gradually build confidence and familiarity with the repertoire, fully supported by our systems and our friendly team, so you never feel lost, only prepared, confident, and ready to sing.
🤝 Attendance, Participation & Staying Connected
At Hummingsong, we’re all about building a joyful, supportive singing community and working together to create beautiful performances. Just like a team, every voice counts! To help us sound our best as a group, we encourage members to aim for 80% attendance each term.
We have lots of fun and exciting performance opportunities throughout the year, so being open to joining in is a key part of the experience.
If your life is full, there are still little ways to keep learning ... listening on the drive to work, practicing in the shower, or while walking the dog. If you can’t find even a few of these moments, Hummingsong might not be the right fit for you and that’s okay too.
To make the most of your choir experience, we also ask that members:
• Read choir emails
• Respond to RSVP requests promptly
• Stay informed via official communication channels
• Practise their music at home
Consistency, participation, and clear communication keep the choir running smoothly and help everyone feel ready to shine together.

The health, safety and wellbeing of our members is always a priority.
If you are feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms of illness, please stay home and rest.
