In Person, Social Media & Online Chat Groups

Hummingsong is built on kindness, connection and mutual respect. Whether we’re together at rehearsal, performing on stage, chatting over tea, or connecting online, we are all responsible for maintaining a warm, welcoming and supportive environment.

Our WhatsApp and Facebook groups exist to help members build community, stay connected within their sections and feel supported. These groups are optional and intended for social connection.

Important or official communication should always be sent via email using the designated section email addresses (e.g. sop2@hummingsong.com.au), rather than relying on chat groups.

To keep all Hummingsong spaces positive and safe for everyone (both in person and online), please follow the guidelines below:

1. Be Respectful and Kind

  • Treat all members, conductors and staff with courtesy and respect.
  • Avoid sarcasm, passive-aggressive comments, raised voices, or behaviour that could be interpreted as unkind or dismissive.
  • Celebrate each other’s achievements and support one another.
  • Address concerns calmly and constructively.
2. Keep Communication Thoughtful
  • Think before you speak or post. Will this be helpful and appropriate?
  • Keep messaging during late-night or very early hours to a minimum unless urgent.
  • Rehearsal time is for singing and learning. Extended private conversations should be saved for breaks.

  • If you feel uncomfortable about something said in person or online, please speak privately with your choir coordinator or contact the Hummingsong Office.
7. Admin & Leadership Responsibilities
  • Choir leadership may remove posts, moderate discussions, or ask a member to step away from a conversation if guidelines are not followed
  • In serious cases, membership may be suspended or terminated.
  • Decisions are made to protect the safety and wellbeing of the whole choir community.
8. Participation & Agreement
